SSC stands for "Staff Selection Commission"
Staff Selection Commission is an organisation under
Government of India to recruit staff for various posts in the various
Ministries and Departments of the Government of India and in Subordinate
Offices.
It recruits talented youth for various ministries and
departments on posts like Multi Tasking Staffs, Stenographers, Lower &
Upper Divisional Clerks, Assistant Section Officers, Assistants, Inspectors,
Assistant Sub Inspectors, Sub Inspectors, Junior Engineers, Assistant Audit
Officers, Assistant Accounts Officers etc. These posts are of Group B &
Group C level.

Staff
Selection Commission has its headquarters located at New Delhi. At present, it
has seven Regional offices at Prayagraj, Mumbai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Chennai,
Bangalore and New Delhi. It also has two Sub- Regional offices at Raipur and
Chandigarh.

SSC
currently functions as a subordinate office of DOPT - Department of Personnel
and training and is mainly engaged in conducting competitive exams for
recruitment to various posts in the SSC departments, organizations. In the
previous years, SSC has conducted various exams as given below

The craze of SSC exam is such that nearly 1 core students
appear for various exams conducted by SSC every year. The job provided
after clearing SSC examinations becomes more lucrative after the implementation
of 7th pay commission. SSC offers posts with grade pay starting from 1900
ending till 4800 grade pay It offers posts from various non gadgetted post
to Assistant
Audit Officer (AAO)- a
gadgetted post. The take home salary varies from 21000 to 60000
depending on the post, city of posting, etc.

*SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination (SSC CGL) *
This exam is being
conducted in 3 stages - Tier 1 or Pre level Objective Examination, Tier 2 or
Mains level Objective examination and Tier 3 or Descriptive examination and
Tier -4 .
*Tier 1 or Pre level Objective Examination- SSC CGL
Tier-1 consists of 4 different subjects i.e Reasoning, Maths, GK
& English each comprising 25 Questions. As the
word tier-1 suggests, it's the Preliminary exam of CGL. However,
it's marks are added while preparing the final merit list. After implementation
of normalization a candidate of general category must secure 150 marks to be
assure of their shortlisting for tier 2. Every question carry equal 2
marks for right answer and negative marking of 0.5 for wrong answer.

Tier 2 or Mains level Objective examination- Tier 2 exam- This has 4 papers viz., Quantitative Ability,
English Language and Comprehension, Statistics (only for the post of
Statistical Investigator Gr. II & Compiler), General Studies of Finance and
Economics (Only for the post of Assistant Audit Officer). 200 marks for each
paper is allotted with a duration of 2 hours. Negative marking is applicable.
Quantitative Ability has 100 questions each carrying 2 marks for correct answer
and 0.5 marks for wrong answer while English Language and Comprehension has 200
questions each carrying 1 mark for correct answer and 0.25 for wrong response.
*Tier
3 or Descriptive level examination- Tier 3 exam or Descriptive level exam is
a 100 marks paper being conducted to assess the student’s writing ability. 2 questions are
asked here. 1 from Essay Writing worth 50marks and 1 from letter or application
writing worth 50 marks has to be answered in due format.
- *Tier-4: Computer Test /
Skill Test (wherever applicable)-
Tier-IV includes Computer Proficiency Test/Skill
Test (wherever
applicable). ... The
'Data Entry Speed Test' will be conducted for a
passage of 2000 (two thousand) key depressions for 15
minutes. The 'Computer Proficiency Test' will include three modules – Word processing,
SpreadSheet, and PowerPoint. Computer Proficiency Test
(CPT) is conducted for the post of Assistant Section Officer only.
Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) is conducted for the post of Tax
Assistant only. The criterion is 8000 key depression per hour.
